Our History
By the end of World War I, Aldo Filicori and Luigi Zecchini decided to give birth to a new business reality in Bologna that embraced, under their alert and expert gazes, the entire coffee supply chain, from importing the beans to the making of the espresso. All around a tiny cup of coffee was soon created a real world of values which, even today, combines craftsmanship passion with technological innovation to realize unmistakable products.
1919
Aldo Filicori and Luigi Zecchini back in 1919 started a store in the center of Bologna to sell coffee. They put all their love for good, quality things into it, searched for the best raw materials and, starting with the green bean, studied the secret to perfect roasting. Thus they began to produce an extraordinary coffee that is unique in the world.
1933
Thanks to a historic agreement Filicori Zecchini becomes the "official purveyor" of the Italian royal house, but war looms and coffee production also comes to an abrupt halt.
1959
We open a plant in Via Dozza, on the outskirts of Bologna, with more advanced production systems. Here roasting and sale to the public takes place in an outlet and, for the first time, also in a cafeteria.
1964
Giovanni, Aldo's son, takes the reins of the family business, transforming a small economic reality into a real industry: it is he, in fact, who makes those important investments that introduce new technologies and establishes valuable business relationships with the most important coffee producers in Brazil, India and Guatemala.
1983 - 1989
First exports abroad mark further evolution of Filicori Zecchini. Inauguration of the new headquarters. A new season of great success begins for the company. The third generation, Constance Filicori and Luigi Zecchini Jr, join the team to show new enthusiasm for the years to come.
1995
We continue to do the job we do best with passion: selecting and roasting the best coffees in the world. It is also a year that marks a new record for Filicori Zecchini after the great burst of freshness that began in 1989: in fact, we roasted more than 250,000 kilos of green coffee in 12 months.

2001
The Espresso Laboratory is born. Filicori Zecchini is one of the first Italian coffee roasters to invest in training its customers. It offers coffee training solutions that combine passion and expertise and help the coffee shop grow.
2009
We open our first coffee shop under the name Filicori Zecchini. The franchise concept, developed in Bologna, has expanded to 20 different locations such as Bucharest, Prague, Vienna, etc. We also began our global expansion to markets such as the Middle East, Canada and the United States.
2014
More than 1 million kilograms of roasted coffee: this is the company's prestigious achievement 95 years after its founding.
2019
October 2019, Filicori Zecchini decided to celebrate 100 years with a special event that everyone will remember and cherish for years to come. We thought the best way to celebrate a century of good coffee was to involve our customers in a coffee competition, which was an opportunity for everyone to test themselves, but also a great moment of education and knowledge of coffee culture.
