Come preparare un perfetto frappè al caffè - Filicori Zecchini Italia

How to prepare the perfect frappe coffee

Coffee continues to be one of the best loved drinks even during the summer period:  at breakfast or after lunch, whether it be espresso or moka, it’s impossible to resist that little cup.

When the temperatures begin to rise, , we can also consider some cold alternatives, perfect for that afternoon break.

We have already seen how to prepare an exquisite and cool  crema al caffè iced coffee cream, and today we’re going to talk about another drink which is very simple to prepare: frappe coffee.

Don’t let the easy preparation fool you though:  with a little care and attention, this quick and easy recipe can prove to be an elegant solution to satisfy the tastes of your guests, even the most demanding ones.

Here is our recipe, along with three tasty variations on a theme.

Frappe coffee: the recipe

To prepare your frappe coffee, you will need ice, sugar, milk, cocoa powder and, naturally, the main ingredient: coffee.

For this recipe, we have used Delicato, our lightest espresso blend, but you can also choose a more intense flavor or even opt for decaffeinated.

The only equipment needed is a food blender.

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots of Italian espresso coffee
  • 4-5 icecubes
  • 3 teaspoons of sugar
  • 150 ml of milk (whole, 2% or skim)
  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder

Preparation:

  1. Prepare a good coffee using the espresso machine (or the moka, according to your taste).Let it cool for at least ten minutes.
  2. In the blender, put the ice cubes and blend until crushed.
  3. Add the cold coffee, milk, sugar, and cocoa and blend for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour the frappe coffee into a large, tall glass and decorate as you like with whipped cream on the top, or by adding a touch of style with a topping of chocolate shavings or crushed hazelnuts.

If you wish, you can substitute a vegan milk that you like for the cow’s milk.

Happy break time!

Frappe coffee with icecream

If frappe coffee is your favorite drink and you are also a huge icecream lover, you can quite easily combine the two passions together, creating a creamy, tasty alternative!

Let’s see how:

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the coffee using the espresso machine (or the moka, according to your taste). Leave it to cool for at least ten minutes.
  2. In the blender, mix the cold coffee, milk, sugar, and cocoa powder for 1-2 minutes. At this point, add the scoops of icecream and blend again until smooth.
  3. Pour the frappe coffee into a large, tall glass and decorate to taste.

Irish cream frappe coffee

It doesn’t take very much to transform your frappe coffee into a mouth-wateringly tasty cocktail to drink with your friends.

The procedure to follow for this Irish cream  version to follow is very similar to that of the classic frappe coffee with chocolate.

Let’s look at the ingredients and the steps necessary:

  • 2 shots of Italian espresso coffee (same comment as above)
  • 4-5 icecubes
  • 0.7 fl oz Irish Cream
  • 1 fl oz of cold milk
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1.4oz fresh cream
  • 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder

Preparation:

  1. Prepare the coffee, using the espresso machine (or the moka, according to your taste). Leave it to cool for at least ten minutes.
  2. In the blender, put the icecubes and blend until crushed.
  3. 10.Add the cold coffee, milk, sugar, cocoa powder and blend for 2-3 minutes. Add the Irish cream and blend again for 1 minute.
  4. Pour the frappe coffee into a large, tall glass and decorate with whipped cream.

Frappe coffee and smoothie: what are the differences?

Often used as synonyms, these two terms indicate very different preparations.

Both drinks are obtained by blending ice, sugar and, usually, milk together with the ingredient that corresponds to the flavor desired.

But the difference between a frappe and a smoothie is as simple as it is fundamental: the first is prepared with milk or icecream with sugar, while the second is prepared with fruit.

For this reason, despite the fact that you have undoubtedly read on menus the option “coffee smoothie”, this product does not actually exist!

Do you like to give yourselves a revitalizing and refreshing break with a good  frappe coffee?

Which ingredients do you use to finish it?
